Healthy Images

“Disease” usually means that bodily functions or cellular processes are behaving in confused, unregulated, or destructive ways. Perhaps unhealthy pathogens aren’t being clearly recognized or effectively neutralized. Or maybe healthy structures are being erroneously attacked by the body’s own immune system.

Bodily processes are ultimately regulated by our perception, which directs the electro-chemical signals that the mind sends to the cells. Perceptions such as fear, isolation, self-hatred, anger or revved-up stress send the body a set of signals that promote and sustain disease. On the other hand, to intentionally and regularly reshape our perceptions with encouraging, invigorating spiritual images and ideas sends a set of signals that restores healthy processes.

Spiritual images come from the infinite Spirit, the divine Mind. Here’s an image you can practice today that will help restore the healthy action of your system.

As the spiritual creation of this Mind, you are built of His ideas and qualities. This Mind sustains, orders and regulates in harmony this spiritual structure that is the real you. In fact, He is right now regulating every detail of your being, including those details that the human mind sees as physical functions and cells.

Meditate on this healthy, spiritual image-fact several times today for a minute or two. Feel the divine order being established in whatever thought or function is causing you to suffer or fear for your well-being.

Mary Baker Eddy’s book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, includes hundreds of healthy spiritual images and ideas you can use any time you need to. Click here to read the book now. She writes,

“A material body only expresses a material and mortal mind. A mortal man possesses this body, and he makes it harmonious or discordant according to the images of thought impressed upon it. You embrace your body in your thought, and you should delineate upon it thoughts of health, not of sickness.” (click here to read)
